“A Canadian
computer firm has built a PC that’s designed
to last forever.
Suissa’s
Enlighten is a wood encased desktop built
from high-performance components that won’t
need replacing as frequently as most
computers do. Inside, you’ll get a monstrous
4GB RAM, DVD burner and a terabite of hard
drive-disk space. That’s the equivalent of
300,000 songs or photographs, or two thirds
of the way towards the alleged capacity of a
human being’s functional memory.
The PC is
designed to symbolise “the emerging trend of
the physical separation of our hardware and
data”, and with an £8,000 price tag you’d
certainly hope so.
Suissa is only
planning on making 10 of these, each one
available on a commission-only basis. All
you need now is a wooden keyboard and
screen.... “
