Making a human connection to digital
technology
December 22, 2006, Thornhill, Ontario --
This holiday season, our personal computers
will store even more family photos,
favourite music and home movies. Canadian
industrial designer Howard Suissa believes
there needs to be a connection between these
memories and the technology in which they
are stored. “The personal computer has
become a hub for the family. It therefore
deserves a place of honour within the home.”
The technology savvy will drool over the
high performance components in Suissa's
computer systems. However, the unique
designs and hand-crafted hardwood cases with
accent materials give these computers a
human touch.
"With the integration of computers into our
living environment, people are craving
something more human,” says Suissa. “They
relate to natural materials more readily
than to the cold sterility of plastic or
metal.”
Suissa launched Suissa Computers at interior
design trade show IIDEX/NeoCon in late
September. Each model in the Suissa
Computers collection is a limited edition of
100. The company also offers exclusive
custom builds, including exquisite carvings
and inlays to opulent detail materials.
Fire@Will, priced at $35,000 CDN and on
display at IIDEX, is an exclusive model made
entirely of the recycled wood off-cuts of
the other builds. Another client’s exclusive
custom build included diamonds and white
gold in the details.
Suissa Computers designs and builds desktop
computer systems that stand out and
challenge preconceived ideas. Visit
